The ProActive Sports Group

The ProActive Sports Group Increases Support to the OPGA

Building on our involvement last year with Oregon Chapter of the PGA, the ProActive Sports Group is pleased to announce we have expanded our support to include a bonus cash pool of $2000 for the 2012 Oregon PGA Chapter Championship at Tualatin CC. This is in addition to our continued support of the Chapter's Pro-Pro Event on March 6 and the Pro-Assistant event on October 9.

To be eligible, Oregon Chapter shops must achieve a minimum level of $2,500 in combined sales from any of the ProActive Sports companies (ProActive Sports, Clicgear USA or Origins of Golf) for the previous 12 months ending May 31, 2012.

Prize money will be awarded to the top 5 places of eligible shops. Going forward, we intend to grow the bonus cash pool for future Oregon Chapter PGA Championships by contributing a percentage of all annual sales from Oregon Chapter shops - with a minimum purse of $2,000. Additional information on this program will be provided at the General Memberships meeting on March 6 at Willamette Valley Country Club. You may also contact Greg Gersen at 503-250-1795 (email-ggersen@comcast.net) for more information about the ProActive Sports Group product line and this program.

We are excited to be involved with the Oregon Chapter of the PGA and look forward to continuing our relationship for years to come.

Smith, Franklin, Brown, & Erdmann

I talked to Matt Brown of The Highlands and he was able to share the following information with me.

Scott Erdmann originally organized the trip. He wanted to play a practice round for the PGA National Championship this year at Bayonet Black Horse near Monterey. He thought it would be great if we could play a few other golf courses while we were in the area so he spoke with the head pro at San Francisco Golf Club and wrote a letter to the head pro at Cypress Point to see if it would be possible to get 4 PGA members out sometime that week.

Wouldn't you know it he got a call back from Cypress and was able to secure us a time on Monday at San Francisco. So we flew out early Monday morning March 26th and arrived at San Jose Airport. We drove up and played a wonderful 18 at San Francisco Golf Club, a very cool old school layout. We then drove down to our hotel in Monterey. The next day we played 36 at Bayonet and Black Horse where Scott was able to get familiar with the courses in preparation for the National Championship.

The next morning was the highlight of our trip as we teed off around 8:30 am at the historic Cypress Point Club. What an unbelievable design and a great test of golf! We had 2 great caddies, Vince and Stacey who are 2 of the most experienced caddies at the course. They took us around the course and explained a lot of the history. The 15th, 16th, and 17th were one of the coolest stretches of golf we have ever played. Scotty finished with a nifty little 69 to cap off our trip and we had lunch at Pebble Beach to celebrate. After an unbelievable day and 3 day golf trip we drove back up to San Jose and flew out that afternoon!
